Drummassage is an aural bath of low frequency, repetitive rhythms. Using Native American drums, we aim to provide a meditative auditory landscape for the listener to indulge in, let go, and ultimately have a unique relaxing experience.
Started by Berklee College of Music percussion professor, Steve Wilkes, Drummassage was founded as a project based on the teachings of Herbert Benson. Strictly an in-person experience, listeners would be welcomed into the space, lie on yoga mats and be surrounded by 8-12 drummers playing low repetitive rhythms for approximately 40 minutes. When the experience was finished, yawning, snoring, and drowsy eyes were taken as compliments to the drummers as the listeners were welcomed back to reality and transitioned back to their day.
Drummassage Today
Today, we aim to bring Drummassage to the virtual world. While many of us can relate to an outlook calendar full of virtual meetings, rushing from one to the next, barely getting a break for lunch, we want to bring something different to the workplace. A scheduled time to relax.
With the same intention of the in-person Drummassage, we want to share these beautiful drums with you in the comfort of your own home or office space. With a beautifully mastered recording of live drumming, field recordings of nature sounds, and a live guide through the experience, all you need is a quiet space, a relaxing position and your best pair of headphones to connect with us on Zoom and reconnect with yourself.
Unlike the rest of your calendar full of meetings, this Zoom meeting is a Camera off, Microphone off experience that allows you to take time back for yourself so you can feel refreshed and recharged for the rest of your day. Designed for small or large teams or groups over Zoom, this is one meeting you will be glad to join.
